Clontarf (Cluain Tarbh),  is a coastal suburb on the northside of Dublin, Ireland.

It is most famous for giving the name to the Battle of Clontarf in 1014 during which Brian Boru, High King of Ireland defeated the Viking invaders!

Directions:

FROM DUBLIN AIRPORT

View Map From Dublin AirportTake the M1 towards the city centre. At the first set of traffic lights turn left onto Collins Avenue . Continue to the end of the road to a T-junction where it intersects with the Howth Road. Bear left (The Beachcomer Pub is facing you).

At the second set of traffic lights take a sharp right onto Castle Avenue. The entrance to Clontarf Castle Hotel is at the first roundabout on the right hand side.

FROM DUBLIN CITY CENTRE

View Map From Dublin City CentreDrive down Dawson Street and turn right onto Nassau Street . Keep left and follow the road around onto Westland Row and at the bottom of the street, turn left onto Pearse Street.

Continue to the end of Pearse Street taking a right on to Tara Street. Make sure to stay in one of the right hand lanes. Drive over Butt Bridge and around by the back of the Customs House and veer left on to Amiens Street. Continue on to Fairview (appox. 1.5 miles) passing under the DART bridge at Clontarf.

Turn left onto Castle Avenue when you see the signs for Clontarf Castle Hotel and follow the road up to the castle roundabout.

FROM DUBLIN FERRY PORT

View Map From Dublin Ferry PortLeaving Dublin Ferry Port, continue to the traffic lights and turn right onto East Wall Road. Turn right at the second set of traffic lights onto Alfie Byrne Road.

Turn right at the T-junction onto Clontarf Road. Continue for half a mile. Turn left at the second set of traffic lights onto Castle Avenue. The entrance to Clontarf Castle Hotel is on the left at the next roundabout.

DART (DUBLIN AREA RAPID TRANSIT)

View Map From Dublin Ferry PortClontarf Castle Hotel is also conveniently located close to the DART station at Killester & Clontarf Road.

From Killester (only a ten minute walk): At the second set of traffic lights take a sharp right onto Castle Avenue. The entrance to Clontarf Castle Hotel is at the first roundabout on the right hand side.

From Clontarf (only a 15 minute walk): Continue along the seafront pass the Yacht pub on your left hand side. At the next set of lights turn left onto Castle Avenue. This road bears right, when you approach the roundabout, Clontarf Castle is located on your left.
