We really enjoyed our stay at Clontarf Castle, the room, food and staff were all lovely. it was really relaxing beak and is in a good location for touring north Dublin. Just a note to be cautious of breakfast times during the week, the breakfast times stated in the hotel information book was inaccurate at the time of our stay. So as a reminder double check with reception the night before. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it once you dont mind getting taxis to restaurants and to bars as there isnt really anything within walking distance.

I thought the staff was extremely helpful and attentive. We were dealing with the dreaded ash and the possibility of having a flight cancellation the next day. Staff kept close tabs on the situation at the airport for us. The restaurant staff were attentive and the food was impeccable! A lovely stay which I would definitely repeat!!

Overall we were pleased with our stay in the Clontarf Castle the room was good and also overall service fine. Just one comment would be that we were waiting for approx 10mins at check in as there appeared to be only one receptionist on duty and it was busy. Once we got to check in the process was very efficient.

I thought Clontarf Castle was an excellent hotel. The staff where exceptional and we even recieved a free upgrade since its was a special occasion which I thought was nice. The food was out of this world. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel and leaves you off near O'Connell street. Overall I would def consider stayin in this hotel again. It was a lovely, welcoming and beautiful hotel.

Arriving on a late afternoon with freezing roads, we were very concerned about making our flight out of Ireland the following morning. The staff did everything possible to assist us, including arranging for our rental car to be picked up from the hotel, securing a taxi and making us very comfortable in the bar. Very personable and caring service

upon arrival told the most helpful receptionist it was my husbands 40th birthday and within 10 minutes of our arrival in our room 2 slices of fab chocolate cake with strawberries and cream were delivered to us to wish my husband a happy birthday. A small touch but never the less much appreciated and started off our stay nicely.

The room was a good size and the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in. We ate in Knights bar and the food was lovely with a good atmosphere. Overall a great stay, I would definitely recommend to a friend. We got a very good advance purchase rate on the hotel website and if those rates continue I will be back again soon.

We had four rooms at the Clontarf Castle Hotel in mid October. The hotel itself is lovely, great incorporation of new and old. We saved this place for our last night in a 2 week vacation and it lived up to the billing. Rooms and beds were great. We tried both restaurants during our stay - the Knights Bar for lunch was okay, but the formal dining for supper was fantastic. Our waitress was very attentive and the food was easily some of the best of our trip. Knights Bar for drinks after was the perfect top-off. Would definitely recommend the hotel and would stay again the next time we're in Dublin.

I was very unhappy with the lighting , most especially in the bathroom. Why spend all that money on lovely tile etc. and put in a very unflattering and cold feeling overhead light. I realize you are trying to conserve energy however there are many other ways that could be achieved. For instance, do away with the headboard lighting on the beds. Other than that, we were happy with our stay at Clontarf. Janice Werle

Our room could havee been a bit larger but was large enough to be comfortable. Since we own a small business in the us we continue to do business from our room as it had wyfi..that was an extra bonus. The grounds are lovely and it not only looked castle like but upon entering one felt like living in a castle. best experience ever. Sincerely, Allan & Carroline Durbin Green Valley, AZ l

Our stay was fine. However as we had booked a package complete with evening meal, I had not thought I needed to book the restaurant and on arrival was informed that as there was a wedding in the hotel, there was no dinner availability for us. The receptionist rang the restaurant and we were told that if we could wait until after 9 o'clock we could be served in the restaurant. This suited us as we had travelled from the North and were prepared to wait but this may have been unsuitable for many. The room was very good and the meal and breakfast the following morning were excellent. I would definately use the hotel again.

Our stay at Clontarf Castle was very good, room was lovely, reception very helpful and the surroundings out of this world. One problem, Breakfast area a bit of disaray, perhaps less self service and more hands on especially regarding tea/coffee and toast/bread. Long wait for toast at the toaster and no brown bread.

I booked the room, dinner and breakfast in a package. The wine we had with dinner was not included in the price, but considering the quality of the food and room it was very good value altogether. The dinner comprised mainly of a stunningly large steak. This was great, but unfortunately I had no room left for desert. The only bad point about the dinner was that there were a couple of screaming kids at other tables. That’s not the hotels fault of course, but if you’re looking for a romantic meal, book your table for after the kid’s bedtime. The plan for after dinner was to wander around the hotel and soak up its ambience. However, the bed in our room was incomparably luxurious, so as soon as we laid down upon it we simply could not get up again. It was the best bed I have ever slept in, bar none. In fact, it's worth staying here just for the bed.

Of the 6 hotels we stayed in during a 2 week tour of Paris, Dublin, Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Birmingham, England, and London ... Clontarf was the nicest hotel we stayed in ... hope to return someday, and would happily recommend it to others.

Fantastic stay, and what a brilliant construction this hotel is, part old Castle part ultra modern and it all works so well. The rooms were very high spec, clean and a very comfortable bed. We ate in the Knights Bar, had the Chowder starter and no main after Elaine the bar manager advised it was a meal in itself. Elaine and her staff were all very professional, efficient and friendly, a real credit and asset to the hotel. I have to rate this hotel very highly and would certainly recommend it to anyone, be it for business like us, a wedding or a romantic getaway.

The room and services were brilliant and we had such a lovely stay and time around the area, it was just a shame we cudnt have stayed a day or so longer. We definately wish to visit Dublin again soon in the near future, thank you again for making it such a magical experience.

The room was lovely, very comfortable and nicely decorated. I found staff helpful, very pleasant and all service was prompt and delivered with a smile. Both dinner- which I had in the Farenheit Grill, and breakfast, which I had sent to my room, were excellent. I will stay again.

One of the best hotels that I have stayed in, we were late arriving but that was not problem, hotel is so lovely and peaceful, the staff were amazing and so helpful, nothing was too much hassle for them even when asked for an ice bucket with ice.

Really really enjoyed our stay at Clontarf Castle so much. Food was excellent - had lunch in the bar and it was really superb. Breakfast excellent - lots of choice and great service. Rooms were fab too - very modern while the reception and dining areas and bars have retained the old part of the castle and are truly magical. I paid an extrememy reasonable rate for this stay and got great value for money.

For my mums 50th birthday we recently stayed for 1 night at Clontarf Castle hotel. The hotel itself was beautiful, the room was great and very clean. After shopping in Dublin we came back to the hotel and had something to eat in Knights bar in front of a roaring fire, it was heaven, could of stayed there all night. The staff were so friendly and we really did feel at home. So impressed I'm going to book another few nights at the end of jan (1 night just wasnt enough)!

I'd like to congratulate all the staff at the Clontarf Castle Hotel that was very friendly and helpfull in all maners during my stay at the hotel. During our stay everything was great, I picked this hotel as a surprise for my girlfriend and I think I could not have got anything better. The location is very safe and calm, close to the city center, by bus it takes no more than 10 minutes if you go down Castle Avenue until the bus stop. Dublin is lovely and Beautiful, I got some good advice about what to do from the people at Front Desk at the hotel and our stay was just perfect. Thank you all very much!!!

We stayed at the Clontarf in Jan 09, and what can I say?? I had a wonderful time!! The accommodation was lovely!! The rooms were extremely comfortable and the staff were very polite.
I have been to Dublin a couple of times before with friends and have always stayed in the centre, for the price it is well worth staying a little out of the centre!
Its only 10 mins on the bus (I think the no 130) we tended to walk down castle st which was a few minutes down the road to catch the bus on the main stretch! The bus does pick up straight outside the hotel but I think it may then drive around the village and adds time to the journey, it was just as easy to walk to the main stretch and on a good way a really delightful walk!
Clontarf itself is a lovely town and worth exploring, we spent a couple of hrs in the park around the corner from the hotel, (the hotel staff I am sure could provide you with a map of clontarf, there is also one you can download on the website) The park is huge and well worth a look!
We spent a day in the city as I had seen a lot of the city anyhow, spent the day visiting the square, the art gallery and tried the history museum (which happened to be shut for re furb at the moment!! Ohh well!)
There was also a really nice photography gallery near the temple area which is worth a visit and probably in most of the guides!.
We met a lovely lady while in the park in Clontarf who told us if we had time to go to Howth (I am not sure of the spelling) anyhow you can get a bus about half a mile up the road to the left of the castle (I think the 32) heading towards Howth Summit (but I am sure the staff at the hotel can direct you better) What a Fab place, if you enjoy walking and taking in the views this is fantastic!!
There is a trail that takes you all around the coast when you get off the bus which leads you into the centre of howth to a very pleasant harbour, you can get get the bus directly back from the harbour ( I think the No 30 ) Theres a lovely chippy there, which incidentally is also in Clontarf and the centre of Dublin, but they do the most amazing Scampi and Thai fish cakes!!
Overall, the weekend was most enjoyable, the accommodation was second to none, we could not of asked for anything nicer!! The staff were most pleasant and I would recommend this hotel to anyone that does not mind been a little out of the centre, after all its only 10 mins!! And nice to get away from the hustle and bustle!

Coming home after 48 yrs in the USA, I brought my husband who has never been out of the States. While I was delighted with the Castle, the concierge/staff , and everything else, he was totally blown away..couldn't believe the beautiful rooms and our dining experience. I was so happy that his first impression of my homeland..Ireland,..was such a great experience for him. We have done nothing but talk about our trip and he proudly shows off the pictures we took. Thank you for an absoluely wonderful experience! We will be back in 2010, and will definately stay at the castle again.

We had a fantastic one-night stay at the Clontarf Castle. The service was great upon check-in/check-out at the Knight's Bar and at Breakfast. We were there on a Sunday evening in November, yet there was a great buzz about the place. The atmosphere at the Knight's Bar was very comfortable & cozy with the fireplaces going - a lot of Old World charm! The rooms themselves are stylish and new. The beds and linens are very comfortable and the bathrooms super clean and modern. All in all a wonderful stay and a great value!

My 8 year old niece and I stayed here November 27-28. What a lovely place! The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was a local bus right outside of the hotel that takes you directly to the City Center. We walked around and shopped. We ate at the hotel for dinner. It was good. I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Dublin. My niece enjoyed the castle part of the hotel. Good job!

"We stayed at Clontarf Castle Hotel 10th Novemeber for 1 night.
Where do I start with this hotel. The exterior itself is second to none, lovely setting. (wish it was closer to home cause I would have my wedding there in the morning.)
The room we had was so modern and clean, nothing better than crisp white bed linen and towels. We ate in the Knights Bar and food was ample and tasted good. Just what you need after a long day shopping.
The interior was well decorated and had a consistent castley theme, with a modern twist with the lighting and class looking chairs (I bought the exact pair for my wedding thrones.)
I would recommed highly this hotel for a break away to the young and old.
Cant wait to go back."

Just returned from our 10th anniversary trip to Clontarf Castle, Ireland. The place was fantastic, staff very friendly and helpful and bed very comfy.
Thought at first the prices were high, but compared to Temple Bar and main part of Dublin city, they were very competitive.
Meals, (breakfast/evening) expensive but worth it, especially the evening menu.
Would recommend this place to anyone and I like to stay in nice places.
Make sure you have plenty of change for the local bus, which isn't
far off the main driveway, to the left, to go into the city centre, (they will not take notes).
