I can honestly say after staying in over 100 hotel over the years this was something else.
Excellent Castle/Hotel and Fantastic Staff all aspects of our stay were amazing.
I proposed to my lovely girlfriend (Now Finance) whiles staying at the Clontarf Castle,
I was so impressed with all the team. They helped me to arrange things the extra touches.
So to name the people who were exceptional will be hard as they all were fantastic however a few did leap out to me, firstly Michael (Concierge) Chris (Concierge) and VJ (You guessed it Concierge) they were all fantastic. I would strongly suggest going to Ireland and if you want somewhere that is just outside the Dublin busy life then go to the Clontarf Castle it was amazing. Both of us really enjoyed our stay, Irish people are amazing.
We will be returning :)
We recently stayed with our 4 children in Clontarf Castle and have to see it well exceeded expectations. From the minute we arrived the staff could not be anymore welcoming and helpful. We had interconnecting rooms and again you could tell the effort by the Hotel in arranging this for us. The beds were so comfortable and the attention to detail in the room was just 5 star! A very clever personalised Castle welcome from Mark Long General Manager and a magazine for each of the Kids, this is their memory of Clontarf Castle and what’s more age and gender appropriate, that is Hotel keeping at its best. Breakfast the following day was excellent and again the service and attitude of the staff was second to none. The place is spotless from the front door to the shower, another big one in my book! Well done Clontarf Castle 10/10 Seamus, Audrey and family.
Castle is a magnificent & stunning sight, they've managed to add on to the original stonework in ways that compliment the castle atmosphere rather than diminish it. Sitting areas on each floor are a nice alternative to the lobby seating which can get rather crowded rather quickly. An ideal place to stay with children or your extended family, it quickly becomes apparent why many people choose Clontarf as their location for weddings, celebrations, etc. The castle rooms, lobbies, hallways do look luxurious but they just FEEL peaceful and homey. I also stayed at the Four Seasons during this excursion and while yes there is a reason to pay more to experience their extreme level of luxury, it just didn't feel as comfortable and friendly as the Clontarf, rather more businesslike and isolating. When I go back to Dublin again, I'll be going to Clontarf, a place I can relax & feel comfortable chatting for a few hours with their Concierge Michael Byrne, who actually messaged me weeks after the castle to see how things were going. Lovely.
Wow! This is what I call impressive. A real life castle to sleep in! They have actually blended old with new perfectly here. Modern rooms/bathrooms mixed with beautiful old stone walls and staircases to admire here there and everywhere in public areas. Lovely staff who gave a warm Irish welcome and who always had time for a little chat to see how your day had been. The breakfast was delicious and the Guinness even better! Nice quiet location but not far from the city centre which was easy to get to by bus or taxi. A real experience and certainly a place I would love to stay at again. I just wish I´d taken more pictures.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Clontarf Castle in Dublin Ireland. From the moment my family walked in, we were welcomed and greeted with a very friendly and helpful staff. The Castle itself is beautiful and very cool inside. My two boys loved the knight statues and all of the decorations. We truly felt comfortable and like royalty when we were there. I highly recommend the Clontarf Castle for anyone staying overnight in the Dublin area.
Spent our last night in Dublin here. The hotel was beautiful and most comfortable. Loved the castle motif. Our room was exceptionally nice--very modern but still felt welcoming. Wonderful bed and nice room layout--gorgeous bathroom. Food was good too. Wish we had had more time here to enjoy the amenities.
My husband and I came here for our 15th year wedding anniversary. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay the Clontarf Castle Hotel. The staff was fabulous and friendly. When we needed directions for driving to a certain location, the concierge had them ready when we returned to our room. (They offered. We didn't ask... Very nice!) The eclectic design between modern and old world was unique. As for location, we preferred the quaint and quietness of being away from the city. Our room was extremely quiet at night even on those occasions when the hotel was hosting an event. It's only a short drive or bus ride to the Centre of Dublin. I really could go on and on with our review...and I'm already making plans for our next stay.
We only had one night before flying out to Wales, and chose the Clontarf for its location. First impressions: a very clever design and blend of very old versus very new. Check in was speedy, with friendly staff. We were in our rooms in under 10 minutes. Rooms - our group of 6 all had king size beds. Bathrooms were modern, lovely bathroom products. The beds were very comfy, and we all had a great nights sleep. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel, both meals were beautiful. Food was fresh, presentation was excellent, and over all quality and service was spot on. Check out was as speedy as check in. loved walking past the suits of armour as we left.....a castle with loads of history, but every inch a modern luxury hotel.
We have just been this weekend for my husband's 40th birthday and had a fantastic time. The hotel is simply beautiful, especially at night with all the Christmas lights and decorations. The room was clean and unlike previous reviewers, we had no trouble with staff or getting drinks. Food was top rate, both breakfast and the meal we had in Fahrenheit - my husband is still raving about his steak!
Definitely worth a visit - we're thinking about a Christmas break here in the future as we think it would be the perfect place. Am already recommending it to all my friends!
Beautiful boutique spacious rooms, ipod dock, free standing bath, a bed that went on forever. Clontarf Castle is a magical experience, we went at Christmas so there was a particularly special atmosphere, but the medieval castle blended with boutique hotel, is going to be special any month of the year. Lovely staff, unique and luxurious decor, and a cracking breakfast too.
We
stayed in Dublin for 3 days and 2 nights and wanted something away from
the tourist attractions. We were very happy with Clontarf. The hotel
has a neat castle exterior and the grounds are well maintained. The
interior of the hotel feels more like a modern business hotel with large
rooms that are comfortable and clean.
Came to Dublin from London on business, last stop before heading back to Florida. I was only here for one night, I picked this hotel as it was in between the airport and the city, which was perfect as I had to attend meetings in Eastpoint ( a nearby business hub). The hotel was very busy with a conference when I arrived. Check in was prompt and efficient, I ate in the Knights bar, which is not your standard hotel bar per se but more like a locals bar. Very friendly, I can recommend the Guinness. Breakfast was fine, check out was fast. I would recommend this hotel.
We stayed at Clontarf for our entire 8 day honeymoon in Ireland. We arrived so early and they were able to get us checked in right away, which was great for us jet lagged Americans. The food was great, the service was outstanding and the room was so great. The beds and pillows were comfy! The slippers and robes were a great touch! I was even happy to have my first Guinness COLD! The conceriege, by far, made our stay 100% perfect.
Eric was able to help us setup our day tours, direct us to the best attractions and save us lots of money on wasteful tours. He made our day when he always approached us to greet us everyday, He pointed out the best photo ops on the grounds. He truly made our stay 100% perfect. We definitely made a life long friend on the other side of the pond, The decor of the hotel gave us the castle feeling we were looking to stay in for our honeymoon. What we loved the most was being so close to center city, but we weren't in the middle of center city. A perfect taxi or bus ride right into town was most convenient. I would recommend this hotel to everyone and anyone!
We have absolutely nothing negative to say what so ever! A perfect A++++++++!
My best friend and I flew from N.C. to Ireland for a 7-night self-drive tour. We spent our first night in Dublin at Clontarf Castle. It was almost a magical experience. There was so much to see, it was very medieval in a modern kind of way. I especially wanted great pictures to take home to show everyone and some of our best indoor pictures were taken here.
Travelled with my husband and 10 month old baby daughter. From the booking to the departure all the staff could not have been any more helpful and so polite too. Being the first time we stayed in a hotel with our daughter we didn't think to request a room with a bath rather than the sumptious showers that can be provided- not a problem here simply wisked away to another wonderful room with bath and shower facilities. The baby cot provided was very perfect too- our baby slept like a dream! The proximity to the town center and ease of gettin there by bus is fantastic and very easy for anyone. The local area is a delight too- wonderful walks along the water and down to the strand. We'll be coming back no doubt... the only thing missing that would make this hotel perfect is a pool... any plans for one in the future? Thank you all the staff for a wonderful stay!
